Olive Mae Bourque

Olive M. Bourque, 91, of Jaffrey died peacefully Friday October 3, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Jaffrey following a period of failing health.

Olive was a lifelong resident of Jaffrey. She was born in Jaffrey on May 15, 1923, daughter of the late Peter John and Ida Mae (Thompson) Wilson. She had lived her entire life in the house that her father had built, and only went to Good Shepherd because of health reasons.
Olive was a 1941 graduate of Conant High School in Jaffrey.
She had worked for twenty three years at D.D. Bean and Sons and retired in 1988 from W.W. Cross Company.
She also had been a waitress/ hostess at the Shattuck Inn, the Monadnock Inn, the Ark and also the Woodbound Inn.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of John Humiston Unit #11 in Jaffrey; a member and past president of Jaffrey Memorial Auxiliary Unit 5613, VFW; also was past District 5 VFW President.
Olive was an active member of the United Church of Jaffrey, where she had served three different times as President of the Triple D, a member of the Friendly Guild of the United Church, also was a Sunday School teacher and had served on the Deaconate of U.C.C.

She joined the Jaffrey Grange #135 in September of 1937, and had served for ten consecutive years as Master. She also had served as its Treasure.
She was a member of the State Grange where she had served as membership director for two years, as well as serving on the Youth Committee.

Survivors include her husband of forty years J. Peter Bourque of Jaffrey; three daughters Donna Thomas of Valdesta GA, Bett Chase of Laconia and Joan Thomas of Gilford; two grandchildren Steven Norwood and Cheryl Hilton; five great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her first husband and father of her children John L. Fuller on May 24, 1968; and a granddaughter Jody Thomas Bailey on December 21, 1991.

The family would like to send a very special thank you to the staff of Good Shepherd for the wonderful care Olive received while she was a resident.

Family and friends are warmly invited to attend calling hours at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202 south) Jaffrey, on Monday from 3:00 to 5:00PM.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00Am in the United Church of Jaffrey, 54 Main Street, Jaffrey. Rev Chris Owen, Interim Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot in Conant Cemetery.

Flowers are accepted by the family, however those who wish, may make contributions to the United Church of Jaffrey, 54 Main Street, Jaffrey 03452.
