Patricia ‘Trish’ Spettmann, 61, passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of her home on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Trish was born in Yonkers, NY, on August 25, 1961, to loving parents Patrick and Licia Servillo. She and her sisters, Mary and Annie Servillo grew up together in Queens, where they often participated in theatrical performances, musical productions, and folk troupes where Trish met life-long friends and shared many of her artistic talents.
Despite a deep love for music and the arts, her one true wish in life was to have a family. This wish became reality when William Spettmann, Jr. entered her life and stole her heart. After what William regarded as the longest waiting period of his life, they married on April 8, 1989. Not long after, she was blessed with three beautiful children; Veronica, William, and Max. Despite her various talents and hobbies, there was never any doubt that Trish's true calling was being a mother. Known simply as "mom" by many friends and acquaintances, Trish's easy-going and loving demeanor, as well as her delicious Italian-American-influenced cooking style made her very popular amongst everybody who was fortunate enough to meet her.
The family lived in New York for many years, building countless incredible memories of weekend trips to the beach, creating unique and silly family traditions, and celebrating together every chance that they could. Throughout the years, the family raised a veritable menagerie of pets due to Trish’s deep love for all wildlife, and William's inability to ever say "no" to his incredible wife.
It was this very love for home, hearth, and nature that led Trish to move with William to Jaffrey, NH in 2020 to have a peaceful and fulfilling retirement. Her most recent passions were looking for wildlife in her backyard, anticipating the birth of her first grandchild, Lyla Grace Spettmann (the much-adored daughter to William and Alexandra Spettmann), experimenting with sourdough breads and other delicious treats, and watching the Yankee games from the beautiful comfort of her back porch. The last few years of her life resulted in a joy and peace unknown to many, but which she never once took for granted.
It is hard at this time not to think of a passage from one of her favorite films, A Field of Dreams:
John Kinsella: Is this Heaven?
Ray Kinsella: It’s [Jaffrey].
John: [Jaffrey?] I could have sworn this was Heaven.
Ray: Is there a Heaven?
John: Oh yeah. It’s the place where dreams come true.
Ray: Maybe this is Heaven.
Trish was in her Heaven on Earth, so it is nice to imagine that her transition to Heaven was as simple as realizing her dreams had come true.
She is survived by her loving husband, children, daughter-in-law, granddaughter, sisters, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
