Paul J. McPhie, 72, of Rindge, NH, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2021, in his home.
He was born on December 23, 1948 in Peterborough, NH, son of the late Maurice and Rose (Foster) McPhie. After graduating from Conant High School in Jaffrey, Paul served in the United States Marine Corps and was a Combat Veteran with the First Marine Division in Vietnam. After being honorably discharged, he returned home and worked as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Jaffrey, Goffstown, and Keene until his retirement.
Over the years Paul remained an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post #5613 in Jaffrey, NH, where he had served as Commander and Quartermaster. He was also an active member of the Rindge Conservation Commission.
Paul enjoyed the outdoors. He was fond of hiking with his dog Rosie, and his Post Office “Buddies”. He was passionate about kayaking and gardening.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sister, Maureen Thomas and his sister, Ellen McPhie.
Paul is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Mary Lynn McPhie of Rindge, NH, his brother, John McPhie of Wareham, MA, nieces; Laura Olivera of Dartmouth, MA and Cynthia Perkins of Bellingham, MA, and nephews; Christopher McPhie of Wesley Chapel, FL and Nicolas Thomas of Marshfield, MA.
A Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the hall at the Jaffrey Memorial VFW Post #5613, 12 Hathorn Rd., Jaffrey, NH, 03452.
