Penny Warfield

December 2, 1946 — July 31, 2012

Penny Warfield of Boston, Massachusetts, daughter of Robert and Virginia Warfield of Jaffrey Center, New Hampshire, died on July 31, 2012 at the age of 65 after an illness. A legal secretary from 1974 to 2008 with Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP, Ms. Warfield was active in charitable efforts, including fundraising for the United Way and collecting clothing for the Pine Street Inn, the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans and Dress for Success in Boston. She also worked with students from Teen Empowerment and Cathedral High School to help hone their writing and public speaking skills. Most recently, she served on the Board of Trustees of the Sharon Arts Center in Sharon, New Hampshire, and was active in their fund-raising efforts. She was an accomplished musician, having been a concert pianist and church organist, as well as a choir director and soprano soloist. Her Boston affiliations included Church of the Covenant, Old North Church, Old South Church and Chorus pro Musica. In New Hampshire, she was the accompanist for the Monadnock Chorus for several years and also served as organist and choir director at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Keene. Ms. Warfield graduated from Concord Academy in 1964 and attended Oberlin Conservatory, Keene State College and the University of New Hampshire with emphasis in music and mathematics.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Sharon Arts Center, 457 Route 123, Sharon, New Hampshire 03458 or the United Way of Massachusetts Bay, 51 Sleeper Street, Boston, Massachusetts 02210-1208.

At Penny's request, there will be no calling hours.

A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 11, 2012, in the chapel at the Cournoyer Funeral Home Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey, NH 03452.
