Peter Eleftheriou

Peter ‘Pete the Greek’ Eleftheriou, 63, died peacefully on Monday, May 14, 2018 at his home in Rindge with his family by his side after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born on August 14, 1954 in Fitchburg, MA, son of the late William and Harriet (Gastalos) Eleftheriou. He had attended schools in Rindge and in Jaffrey and had lived in Rindge since 1963.

Pete had assisted with his family restaurant, Cyprus Grove, and eventually owned and operated it for over 37 years.

He was a people-person, a good listener, and a terrific bartender. Peter loved animals and flowers too, and whenever he could, he would try his luck at the casinos. Earlier in his life, he enjoyed volunteering on the Rindge Fire Department, and later, he took great pride in preparing free food and drinks for the firefighters after long calls.

He is predeceased by his father who died on June 5, 1975, and by his mother who died on June 6, 2011.

Pete is survived by his 3 brothers, Larry Eleftheriou of Buena Park, CA and his wife Rebecca, Dean Eleftheriou of Swanzey, NH and his wife Elizabeth (Bett), and George Eleftheriou of Rindge and his wife Brenda; his 4 sisters, Hope Eleftheriou of Belmont, NH, Marika Pournaras and her husband Arthur of Maryland, Andrea Eleftheriou of Jaffrey and Despene Eleftheriou and her boyfriend David Lord of Greenville; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends are warmly invited to Calling Hours on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202 South) in Jaffrey, NH.

A Funeral Service will be held immediately following calling hours at 12:00 noon in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery on Goddard Road in Rindge.

The family requests no flowers please. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be made in Pete’s name to the Good Neighbor Fund, PO Box 486, Jaffrey, NH 03452.
