Philip R. LaBrie, 83, a lifelong resident of Jaffrey died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Monday, May 7, 2018.
He was born on November 6, 1934 in Westmoreland, son of the late Emile and Eva (Therien) LaBrie. ‘Phil’ was raised and educated in Jaffrey and married Jeanne (Faford) LaBrie on July 14, 1956. Together they raised their family in Jaffrey.
Phil had worked as the manager at Belletete’s Supermarket in Jaffrey for more than 43 years. He had served in NH National Guard and locally with Jaffrey Police Department. He volunteered with the VFW Ambulance for many years and served as a committee member of the Jaffrey Recreation department, as well as with the Chamber of Commerce. Phil also served as a Crossing Guard with the Jaffrey Police Department for many years.
After he retired, Phil enjoyed fishing, gardening, landscaping, and going on several cruises with his wife and friends.
He was a communicant of St. Patrick Parish in Jaffrey and a proud charter member of Our Lady of Monadnock Knights of Columbus Council #8544 and was a 4th degree member of Knights of Columbus Assembly #2129.
Phil is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeanne (Faford) LaBrie, of Jaffrey; his daughter Denise LaBrie of Jaffrey, and his son Donald “Donnie” LaBrie and his wife MaryAnne of Goffstown; his 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, Jaffrey from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following calling hours on Monday, at 1:30 pm in St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street Jaffrey. Rev. Wilfred Deschamps, Pastor, will officiate.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to Home Healthcare, Hospice & Community Services (HCS), PO Box 564, Keene, NH 03431.
