Raymond J. Bernier, 80, of Dublin, NH, died peacefully on April 18, 2023, at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester after a period of declining health.
He was born in Peterborough, NH on June 16, 1942, son of the late Raymond and Bertha (Myhaver) Bernier. He was a graduate of the former Peterborough High School and had lived in Dublin for most of his life. He had briefly worked at the post office in Peterborough before joining Asplundh Tree Service and working there for over 40 years. After he retired, he worked part time as a flagger at various work sites in the Monadnock Region.
In his free time Ray enjoyed games of chance and traveling to casinos throughout New England. He loved playing bingo, assorted card games, and the occasional scratch ticket. He truly loved the outdoors spent time hunting and fishing. He also liked tinkering and had built many items through the years such as wind chimes and other small yard ornaments. He also enjoyed visiting Maine and spending time up north.
Ray’s wife, Thelma (Melendy) Bernier, had died earlier. He is survived by his daughter, Carol Anne Purdy and her husband, George of Dublin, his son, Ernest Bernier and his wife, Ann Marie of Dublin, his son Scott Bernier of Largo, Florida, and his sister Mary Bernier of Washington. Additionally, he has many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a large extended family, all who will miss him dearly.
At Ray’s request, there will be no calling hours or formal funeral at this time.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial donations to Dublin Fire & Rescue and/or the Peterborough Ambulance services in appreciation for all the care they provided to Ray in recent years.
