Raymond C. Dickie, 89, resident of Peterborough, NH former longtime resident of Milford, NH, died on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough surrounded by his loving family after a period of declining health.
He was born on September 19, 1926 in Boston, MA, residing there for five years then moving to Brookline, NH to live with his grandfather on the family farm.
Ray joined the United States Navy and faithfully served his country and was Honorably discharged on December 21st 1945.
He returned to Brookline, NH to help his grandfather on the family farm where he worked for many years. He married his first wife, Margaret Emerson and they had a daughter, Donna. Sadly, Margaret passed away in 1985.
He worked for many years for Aubuchon Hardware. While in residing in Milford, Ray was very involved with the American Legion and also served as their commander.
Ray moved from the Milford Aubuchon’s to the new Peterborough location when he was offered the position of Manager. He held that positon until his retirement. He moved to Peterborough in 1967.
He met his second wife, Ursula Sigrid Breen and together they were married in 1988.
Ray was very lucky to have the ability to travel to a lot of wonderful spots across the globe, this included such places as; Germany, Italy, Bermuda, Jamaica and Hawaii.
He received his 65 years of membership with the American Legion in 2015, something that was very special to him.
In addition to his first wife, Margaret, Ray was recently predeceased by his loving wife, Ursula, on May 18, 2016.
Survivors include his daughter, Donna Shuman of Marblehead, MA, two granddaughters, Nancy Carbone and Pamela Gill, four great grandchildren, Rachael and Sarah Carbone and Jack and Alexis Gill, two step-daughters, Monika and Larry Kemp of Dublin, NH and Heidi and Breck Parker of Saco, ME.
Services: At Ray’s request services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Milford, NH.
