Raymond G. Bernier

Temple, NH Raymond G. Bernier, 53, of Temple, died Wednesday February 29, 2012 at his residence, surrounded by his family, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Ray was born in Peterborough on March 6, 1958, son of the late Sylvio and Georgette (St.Pierre) Bernier. He was a 1976 graduate of Conant High School in Jaffrey and had attended Keene State College (Manchester Campus) and also Vincennes University. Ray enlisted in the United States Army in July 1976 and retired in December 2001 with the rank of Master Sergeant. He also had worked as a Police Officer for the Town of Jaffrey for several years. Ray is survived by his two daughters Michelle R. Bernier and Courtney R. Bernier both of Temple; a sister Francine Gregory of Rindge and his brother George Bernier of Jaffrey; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Philippe N. Bernier in 1969.

Spring Burial will be in the family lot in St. Patrick Cemetery, Jaffrey.

Ray’s family asks that in lieu of flowers, friends honor his life with a contribution to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Multiple Myeloma Research Fund, Post Office Box 849168, Boston MA 02284-9168.

Family and friends will honor and remember Ray’s life by gathering for calling hours at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202 south) in Jaffrey on Monday March 5, 2012 from 10:00 until 11:30AM, before leaving in procession to St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon. Rev. Wilfred H. Deschamps, Pastor, will be the celebrant. Prayers of Committal will follow with full military honors outside the church following the Mass.
