Raymond P. “Ray” LaFlesh, 69, a resident of New Ipswich, NH, died peacefully with his family by his side on February 27, 2016 at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester after a courageous battle with cancer.
Ray was born on October 18, 1946 in Norwich, CT, son of the late Leonard and Gladys (Taylor) LaFlesh. Mr. LaFlesh was raised and educated in Connecticut and was a graduate of Taftville (CT) High School. Soon after completing high school, Ray was drafted into the United States Airforce and faithfully served his country and was honorably discharged in 1970. He belonged to the LeClair-Caron-Pelletier American Legion Post #13 in Greenville.
Ray married Tina (Champagne) and together they raised three daughters at their home in Jaffrey.
Mr. LaFlesh devoted his life to helping others. He worked for many years at the Seaside Center in Connecticut, and then at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center and eventually retired from Monadnock Worksource as the Education Director. After retirement, Ray decided he had too much free time, so he began to volunteer with St. Joseph Community Services delivering Meals on Wheels to those in need, something that brought him a lot of joy.
Ray had many hobbies including watching his beloved Bruins, Patriots and NASCAR on television. His true passion in life was his grandchildren – they brought such cheer and enjoyment to Ray and he cherished the time he was able to spend with them. He will be truly missed by all that he helped or that he came into contact with.
In addition to his parents, Ray was pre deceased by his sister, Janice Snurkowski.
Ray is survived by his loving wife, Tina of New Ipswich; his daughters and sons-in–law, Amy and Craig Metcalfe of Billerica, MA, Elizabeth and Nick Letters of New Ipswich, NH and Julie and Hiram Droz also of New Ipswich, NH; his 7 grandchildren, Sydney, Cali, Emma, Mia, Jake, Talia and Sophia; a brother, Charles LaFlesh of Oregon and a sister, Yvette Richardson and her husband Rich of Florida; Ray’s friend and ‘Best Man’, Raymond Gould, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
