Reuben M. Chalke, 40, of New Ipswich, NH died at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday February 6, 2018 after a brief illness. He was born on April 12, 1977 in Fitchburg, MA, son of Albert and Janet (Ojala) Chalke.
Reuben was a hard worker who worked in concrete construction for many years and was the owner of Dependable Concrete Construction.
Reuben and his longtime sweetheart Amy were married in New Ipswich, NH on October 25, 1997.
Reuben enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved attending his son Reuben's baseball games and searching for old coins with his youngest son Colton. He loved old cars, reading and riding his motorcycle when he had the time.
He leaves his parents of Greer, SC, wife Amy L. (Desrosiers) Chalke and two sons Reuben and Colton Chalke. Three brothers, Daniel A. Chalke of New Ipswich, Alan J. Chalke of Taylors, SC and Tyson E. Chalke of Jaffrey, NH. Nine sisters, Wendy A. Price of Jaffrey, Holly M. Benoit of New Ipswich, Tara J. Hruska of Rindge, Kristy K. Anderson of Greer, SC, Marcy J. Housel of Taylors, SC, Misty D. McDonald of New Ipswich, Tuula J. Johnson of Taylors, SC, Naomi F. Westbury of Anderson, SC and Molly K. Olin of Battleground, WA; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved brother Adam T. Chalke on May 5, 2012. Reuben (Ruby) which he was called fondly by his brothers and friends with his quiet presence will be sorely missed.
Family and friends will honor and remember Reuben's life by gathering for calling hours at the Apostolic Lutheran Church, 117 Goen Rd., New Ipswich on Sunday, February 11, 2018 from 1:30 to 3:30. The funeral will follow immediately at 3:30 with the Rev. Gary Bertram officiating.
Burial will take place in the spring in Smithville Cemetery on Binney Hill Rd in New Ipswich.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made in Reuben's name at any local TD Bank to the Amy Chalke fund.
