Richard D. Call

March 12, 1938 — April 22, 2015

Richard D. Call, 77, of Rindge died unexpectedly at his home on Wednesday April 22, 2015 following a period of failing health.

He was born March 12, 1938 in Auburn, Maine, son of the late Sanford and Gertrude (Collins) Call. His family moved to Temple, NH where Dick attended schools locally, as well as while he served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Rindge Veterans Association.

Dick had worked at the New Hampshire Ball Bearing Co in Peterborough until he decided to leave work and attend Cornell University in Ithaca, New York where he completed courses to earn his certification as a licensed Farrier. For the next thirty years he owned and operated his own business in the greater Monadnock Region and all of New England. Later in life he became a Campus Safety Officer at Franklin Pierce University in Rindge where he worked until his retirement in 2003

Dick had a profound love of horses and harness racing and had enjoyed racing sulkies at various tracks throughout New England and New York. He lived his life to the fullest and will always be remembered for his sense of humor and for his love for his family - especially his grandchildren.

Dick is survived by his wife of forty years, Mary T. Call of Rindge; his son, Michael R. Call also of Rindge; his step-daughter, Valerie Brusso of Jaffrey; his three grandchildren, Madison and Marissa Howe, both of Jaffrey, and Kamryn Call of Rindge; his two sisters, Sandra Caouette of Indiana and Beverly Smith of Deering, NH; his three brothers, Arthur Call of Nashua, William Ryan of Lyndeborough, NH and Harvey Call of Bethlehem, NH; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
