Richard ‘Dick’ Metivier, 81, a longtime resident of Greenfield, NH, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the Catholic Medical Center in Manchester after a brief illness.
Dick was born on November 25, 1934 in Peterborough, NH, a son of the late Aime and Beatrice (Pellerin) Metivier.
He was raised and educated in the Monadnock region. Dick graduated from Peterborough High School in 1952 and Keene State College in 1956 with a bachelor’s degree in teaching. He taught in the Goffstown and Greenfield school systems for many years and also served as a principal for a short while. After his teaching career came to an end, Dick became a self-employed contractor doing odd jobs around town.
Dick enjoyed model planes, camping, his many pets and most importantly spending time with his family – he will be greatly missed by them all.
In addition to his parents and wife Barbara, Dick was predeceased by his only brother, Wilfred.
Survivors include his cousins who cared for him over the past few years; Elaine Durkee of Marlboro, MA, Lucille McDonald of Dublin, NH, William Pellerin also of Dublin, NH and Jeanne Doucet of Leominster, MA and many nieces and nephews.
