Robert A. Schenck

Robert A. Schenck, 71, of Jaffrey, and formerly of New Fairfield, Connecticut, died peacefully on Monday August 2, 2021, at the Alpine Healthcare Center in Keene, NH following a courageous battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) sometimes called Lou Gehrig’s Disease. ‘Bob’ was able to stay at home through his illness and was lovingly cared for by his family until just a few days before his passing.

Bob was born on September 9,1949 in Sharon, PA, the son of the late Everett and Jean (Waterbury) Schenck. Bob spent his formative years in Pennsylvania and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from West Virginia University in 1971.

Bob had worked in product design at Carrier Air Conditioning and Tecumseh, and later as Regional Manager for BMW of North America, before starting his financial services career in 1991 at A.G. Edwards. He moved to New Hampshire in 2017 and retired from Benjamin F. Edwards & Co. at the end of that year.

Bob cherished the time spent with family and friends, especially at their cottage in Canada. He loved taking care of the cottage, cooking on an oak wood fire in the firepit, fishing with his cousins and sons, boating, and watching the sun set on the lake from the front bench. He enjoyed playing squash, snow skiing, and riding his motorcycles. In his teens and twenties, he raced in Enduros.

He was active at the Congregational Church of NF, and Band Boosters for NFHS. He loved watching his sons in cross country and track, band, and chorus concerts, and NFHS musicals.

After moving to New Hampshire, he loved daily walks or hikes, traveling to visit interesting sites in the state, going to Boston to hear concerts and operas, and traveling to visit friends and family.

He is survived by his loving wife of over 31 years, Susan (Voccia) Schenck of Jaffrey; his 2 sons, Nicholas of Jaffrey, NH and Marcus of Allston, MA and several nieces, nephews, cousins.

A private memorial service for family, and close friends and colleagues will be held in New Fairfield, CT.

Bob’s family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in his memory to the ALS Association, Northern New England Chapter, PO Box 207, Concord, NH 03302-0207, or to Home Healthcare, Hospice and Community Services, 312 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH 03431.
