Robert P. ‘Bob’ Roy, 86, of Jaffrey died peacefully on Saturday December 8, 2018 at his home with his wife by his side.
He was born February 12, 1932 in Jaffrey, son of the late Edward J. and Lillian (Letourneau) Roy.
Bob was a 1952 graduate of Conant High School in Jaffrey. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served honorably during the Korean Conflict. He also served with the 210th Engineer Detachment of the NH National Guard in Peterborough and retired as a Sergeant.
Throughout his life, Bob had enjoyed working in a variety of fields. He had worked locally at W.W. Cross Co. in Jaffrey before working in sales with the Beech Nut Corporation. He also worked as a beloved school bus driver at Laidlaw. Early on he had served as a special police officer in Jaffrey which helped prepare him for his many years in the NH Marine Patrol. His love of sports led him to become a local basketball referee. In his spare time Bob enjoyed woodworking, and he especially loved being with his family.
In addition to his parents, Bob’s brothers, Roland Roy and Neil Roy, and his grandson, Cody Roy, all predeceased him.
Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Adrienne (Patenaude) Roy of Jaffrey; his three daughters, Carol and her husband Walt Pryor of Jaffrey, Debra and her husband Tehmasp Kothavala of Fitzwilliam, Theresa and her husband Chris Nolte of Peterborough; his 2 sons, Steven and his wife Tina Roy of Jaffrey and Scott and his wife Monica Roy of Little Rock, Arkansas; his 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; his Brother, Jerry Roy and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Family and friends are invited to Calling Hours on Friday, December 21, 2018, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Rte. 202) in Jaffrey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street Jaffrey. Rev. Wilfred Deschamps, pastor will officiate. Military Honors will follow the Mass and burial will take place in the spring at Saint Patrick Cemetery in Jaffrey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jaffrey Firefighters Company, Inc., 138 Turnpike Road, Jaffrey, NH 03452, or to the Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance, PO Box 107, Jaffrey, NH 03452.
