Robert G. Record, Jr.

Robert G. Record Jr., 71, died following a brief period of failing health. Recently diagnosed with small cell cancer, Bob bravely faced a very quick acting disease. Bob was born on November 23, 1941 at Heywood Hospital to Lena M. (Christian) Record and Robert G. Record Sr. He grew up in Jaffrey, NH and after graduating from Conant High School in 1959, he attended Burdett Business College in Boston, MA. In 1963, he entered the United States Army. He served our country for two years in Germany, attaining the rank of Specialist Five. In October 1966, he received the Army Commendation Medal for his outstanding service. He was honorably discharged in October 1969. Upon discharge, Bob went back to Boston where he worked as a payroll supervisor for Boston University and Slade Gordon. In 1986, he left Boston and built a house in Citrus Hills, FL. He attained his CNA certificate and began caring for the elderly in nursing homes. He retired and moved to Southport, FL, where he lived out the rest of his life. Bob was known for his love of people, especially his family and friends and his devotion to helping the elderly. He had a keen eye for decorating and proudly refurbished a Victorian brownstone in Boston that was exquisite at the end of the process. He enjoyed gardening, animals, and being outside. He is survived by his life partner of 46 years, Mike Danehy, and two brothers, Raymond Record, of Jaffrey, NH and James Record, with his wife Shella, of Hillsborough, NC. Bob loved his nieces Kristen, Nicolle, Alyson and Lindsey dearly, as well as their families. His generosity to them will never be forgotten. He has many close friends and relatives that will miss him dearly. He is predeceased by his father, mother, and sister-in-law, Bertha M. Record.
