Robert James Price

Robert James Price, 88, of Peterborough, NH died on Friday, April 11, 2014 at the Pheasantwood Nursing Home in Peterborough, NH after a period of failing health. Mr. Price was born on August 30, 1925 in Columbus, OH son of the late Karl and Margaret (McCoy) Price. He attended schools at the University of Cincinnati for Mechanical Engineering, Richmond Professional Institute of Art for Fine Art, and the Pratt Institute of Art studying Industrial Design. He enlisted with the US Army Air Force and served honorably during WWII as an aviation cadet. Mr. Price lived in Richmond, VA; Manhattan and Brooklyn, NY; Surrey, UK; and Rowayton, CT before settling in New Hampshire in the Towns of Dublin and Peterborough. Mr. Price was a designer of furniture, and aircraft interiors. He had worked for Bertha Schaefer Interiors and Charles Butler Associates of New York City, and Molly McCabe Associates in Westport, CT. He was very civic minded and lent his time to the Rowayton, CT Library and Civic Association Boards, as well as the Dublin, NH Planning Board and the Long Hill Condo Association Board. Mr. Price particularly enjoyed photography and painting, and frequently exhibited at the Rowayton (CT) Art Center, the Jaffrey (NH) Civic Center, and the Sharon (NH) Art Center. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Martha (Bannard) Price of Peterborough, NH, and his two daughters; Sharon Price Stout and her husband Nat of Keene, NH, and Wendy Price of Norwood, CO. Mr. Price also leaves behind four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, cousins and close friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 10, 2014, at 1:30 pm, at the Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, (Rte. 202) Jaffrey, NH 03452 and will be officiated by the Reverend Jill Small of the Union Congregational Church in Peterborough, NH.
