Robert S. Griffin, 65, of Jaffrey died Friday October 2, 2009 at his home after a brief illness.

Mr. Griffin was born on August 6, 1944 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, son of the late Robert and Rita (Morrois) Griffin. He attended schools in Lunenburg before joining the U.S. Army and faithfully served his country.

Mr. Griffin was a contractor and had worked in different capacities for various construction firms. He was also a superintendent at several housing complexes in the Syracuse, New York area. Most recently, and for the past 12 years, he has worked for Poly-One in Ayer, Massachusetts in the shipping and receiving department.

Mr. Griffin loved the outdoors and spent much of his time enjoying fishing and motorcycle riding.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Judith (Compeau) Griffin of Jaffrey; his children Cliff, Gary, Robert, Donna and Lisa; his step-children, Lisa, Lewis and Robert; 13 grandchildren; his sister Beverly; his brothers Clifford and Allen, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be sent to the Cournoyer Funeral Home Cremation Center, PO Box 486, Jaffrey, NH 03452 to help offset funeral expenses

There will be no calling hours.

A celebration of Mr. Griffins life will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2009, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the John Humiston American Legion Post # 11 on Webster Street in Jaffrey.
