Roger R. Carignan

March 26, 1932 — November 19, 2008

New Ipswich, NH
Roger Carignan, 76, of Oak Hollow Road in New Ipswich died Wednesday November 19, 2007 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough after a medical condition caused him to lose control of his vehicle.
Roger was born on March 26, 1932 in Lowell, Massachusetts; he was the son of the late Ludger and Cecile (Raymond) Carignan and had attended St. Josephs School for Boys in Lowell and continued to live in Lowell until moving to New Ipswich 22 years.

Roger had served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 and had been stationed in Virginia and Iceland.

He had retired in 1994 from Millipore in Bedford, MA where he worked as a maintenance mechanic for over 20 years. He had also worked for WANG in Lowell and Polyvinyl in Billerica, MA.

Since retirement, Roger could often be found visiting the dump and returning with more than he went with. He would then repair what he had found and often gave the like-new items to people in need. He was known to be able to fix anything and always enjoyed learning how to do more.

Roger will be remembered for his great sense of humor and for being quite a character. His generosity and willingness to help others will also be missed.

Roger is survived by his loving wife of over 44 years, Shirley Y (Rocheleau) Carignan of New Ipswich, NH; his daughter Jane Lazu of Rindge, NH; his 2 sons, Daniel Carignan of Keene, NH and Richard Carignan of Hudson, NH and his 6 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Rogers name to the Souhegan Valley Ambulance Service, PO Box 95, New Ipswich, NH 03071

At his request, there will be no calling hours and services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
