Roland S. Duval, 79, of Plantation Drive, Jaffrey, died peacefully on Sunday, February 13, 2010 at the Good Shepherd Health Care Center in Jaffrey.
He was born in Jaffrey on February 11, 1932, son of the late Sidney and Desneiges (Bosselait) Duval. Roland had attended Conant High School in Jaffrey and had been a life long resident of this community.
Roland never learned to drive and rarely traveled out of Jaffrey. He crossed the border into Canada once, but came right back across, and his most memorable trip was shared with Michael Barlick when the two went to the Big Apple, New York City, for a day. Roland was able to visit Broadway, the Twin Towers, and the Statue of Liberty during their brief visit. He was happiest at home in Jaffrey and has lived on River Street, Blake Street, School Street, Webster Street and Peterborough Street before moving to Good Shepherd in 2010.
Roland retired from W.W. Cross Company in Jaffrey in 1991. He had performed many duties while working there for over 30 years.
He was a communicant of St. Patrick Parish and enjoyed watching television and movies in his free time.
His only surviving family members are his 2 cousins, Elaine Wakefield of Tilton, NH and Rita English of Wilton, NH, but he will always be remembered by his many friends here in town.

Burial will be in the spring in the family lot at St. Patrick Cemetery, Jaffrey.
Friends are warmly invited to call at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey on Thursday from 11:30AM until 12:30PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 1:00PM in St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street Jaffrey. Rev. Wilfred H. Deschamps, Pastor, will officiate.
