Ronald Duane Collier

Ronald D. Collier, 75, of Clinton Road in Antrim, died peacefully Saturday November 3, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family, following a lengthy illness. He was born August 18, 1937 in New York, NY son of the late Leonard D. and Stella (Litwin) Collier. Mr. Collier was a 1955 graduate of Chicopee (MA) High School and had earned his Master’s degree in Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design. Mr. Collier was a professor of art and film history at Bennett College in Millbrook, NY from 1967 until its closing in 1977. He then taught at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY until his retirement in 1986. He has been a resident of Antrim since 1986 and had previously lived in Hyde Park, NY. He was an avid collector of old movies, films, books and music. He had a vast knowledge of old movie trivia. Mr. Collier enjoyed painting, which he did every day of his life until his illness prevented him from doing such. He displayed his paintings at the yearly art exhibit in the Antrim Grange. He is survived by his wife of fifty years Dolores (De Luca) Collier of Antrim; his three daughters Deirdre Caswell of Appleton, ME, Dana Collier Holm of Hillsboro and Megan Collier of Antrim; his son Matthew Collier also of Antrim; three grandchildren; a half brother Ernest Van Dyke of Springfield, MA; three sisters Cathy La Pine of Springfield, MA , Virginia Cruthers and Dolly Mercado both of Chicopee MA.; several nieces and nephews.

Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Bennington.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday November 6, 2012 at 10:00AM in St. Peter’s Church of the Divine Mercy Parish, 18 Vine Street in Peterborough, NH. Rev. Gerald “Gerry” Belanger, pastor, will officiate.
