Ruth F. Stone Belden 94, passed away at her home in Rivermead in Peterborough, NH on September 19, 2014.
She was born August 20, 1920 in Ludlow, VT. Her father was Jay Flanders and her mother was Grace Coffyn. She graduated from Black River Academy in 1938, then Castleton Teachers College, receiving her masters from Boston University.
She taught elementary for 37 years (8 years in Ludlow, the rest in Springfield, VT). After retiring she volunteered in Westminster at Kurn Hattin Home and Christian Academy in Claremont, NH.
She was married to Carlton Stone (June 10, 1943) for 32 years until his death. She married Frank W. Belden in 1983 until his death 1998. They enjoyed spending winters in St. Petersburg, Fl. She has had a long association with Singing Hills, a Christian Camp & Conference Center in Plainfield, NH and the Calvary Baptist Church in Springfield, VT where she sang in the choir. Upon her move to Peterborough, NH, she attended the Union Congregational Church.
She is survived by a step-daughter Bonita (Belden) Lynds and her husband Floyd of Barefoot Bay, Fl. and a step-son William Belden and his wife Janet of Ellington, CT along with 3 step-grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at Rivermead Auditorium at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Ludlow on Friday, September 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m.
Her home was at Rivermead for almost 20 years, so in lieu of flowers, a donation to the Activities fund would be appreciated.
