Scott J. Hanson, 51, of Morris Street in West Peterborough, died after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Friday, November 25, 2011 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough. Scott was born in Peterborough, NH on September 3, 1960, son of Barbara (Blanchette) Hanson and the late Clarence ‘Hap’ Hanson. He attended Con-Val High School and had been a lifelong resident of Peterborough. Scott was a hard worker and loved the outdoors. He had worked for several of the area’s landscape artists and had also helped with many of the annual harvests at Upland Farm in Peterborough. He was an active member of the Sons of the American Legion at the John Humiston Post #11 American Legion in Jaffrey. Scott’s greatest love was his family, his extended family, and all of his friends. He cherished the times spent together where he would keep everyone in the room laughing while he told jokes. Scott also enjoyed watching the old westerns on TV, especially if John Wayne played a role in them. He was brave enough to root for the Minnesota Vikings in the land of the Patriots, and more than anywhere else, he loved his favorite hangout and greatest fishing spot, MacDowell Dam. In addition to his mother, Barbara of West Peterborough, NH, Scott is survived by his son, Derrik Hanson of West Peterborough, his step-son Christopher Landry of Keene, NH; his 2 sisters, Karen Hanson of Marlborough, NH and Lorie Snyder of Jaffrey, NH; his brother Wayne Hanson of Key Largo, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
