Jaffrey, New Hampshire
Sheila L. Chamberlain, 75, of Gilmore Pond Road in Jaffrey, died Friday, November 20, 2009 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sheila was born in Nashua, NH on September 19, 1934, daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Crosby) Joynt. She was a 1953 graduate of Hancock High School.
Sheila was a telephone operator for 17 years and then worked at New Hampshire Ball Bearing in Peterborough for 19 years before retiring and joining her husband with their craft shop, SS Crafts, which they operated together from their home.
Sheila enjoyed camping with her husband and travelling in their RV. Together they had spent several winters in warmer climates and served as campground hosts in Georgia and Missouri state parks. She had lived in Jaffrey from 1966 to 1997 when she lived in Dublin for a brief time, and then moved back to Jaffrey to stay.
She was preceded in death by her husband Sterling E. Chamberlain on April 20, 1999 and by her sister Mary Blood.
Sheila is survived by her three daughters, Carolynn Knight of Keswick, Va., Ann Marie Bernier of Dublin, NH, and Sandra Patton of Peterborough, NH; her five sons; James Chamberlain and Michael Chamberlain, both of Jaffrey, NH, Steven Chamberlain of Allegany, New York, Timothy Chamberlain of North Port, Fla., and Robert Chamberlain of Rindge, NH; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her sister Josephine Hollis of Jaffrey and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Sheila's memory to the Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance, Post Office Box 107, Jaffrey, NH 03452.
Sheila has requested there be no calling hours or funeral.
