SHIRLEY V. CLAPP, 79, of Gilmore Court, Jaffrey, died Sunday March 2, 2008 at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston MA following a sudden illness.
She was born November 23,1928 in Athol, Mass, daughter of the late Kenneth and Mable (Foster) Noyes. She had attended Athol schools and has been a resident of Jaffrey since 1951.
Mrs. Clapp was a retired employee of the New Hampshire Ball Bearing Co in Peterborough. Following retirement she worked part time for TD Bank North in Jaffrey. She also was a member at the United Church in Jaffrey. Shirley was a member of the Triple D at the Church as well as the Friendly Guild. She also had served the Church as sexton.
She loved to crochet and one year had made over 180 pair of mittens for the church. She enjoyed traveling and taking cruises, but she most cherished time spent with family.
She was married to Frank D. Clapp Jr who died March 3, 1987.
Survivors include her son Kenneth W. Clapp of Kissimmee, Florida; two granddaughters; one grandson; two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter; her daughter-in-law Deborah Clapp of Palm Coast, Fl; a sister Geneva A. Parker of Jaffrey; a brother John Morton of Peterborough; several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the United Church of Christ, 54 Main Street, Jaffrey NH 03452.
There will be no calling hours.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, March 7, 2008 at 10:00 AM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey. Rev. Jan Shepherd, Interim Pastor at the United Church in Jaffrey will officiate.
