Oris P. Pelkey, Sr. 70, of Pine Street, Jaffrey died Sunday February 19, 2012 at his residence, following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 15, 1941 in Jaffrey, son of the late Alfred and Yvonne (Gauthier) Pelkey. Oris had attended Jaffrey schools and has been a life long resident of this community. He worked as a mechanic his entire life, first for D.D. Bean and Sons, then later for Millipore Corp and retired in 2009 from Teleflex. Oris loved camping, especially at Greenfield State Park. He enjoyed watching Western movies and shows, and was a big fan of Johnny Cash. He enjoyed building things and was a man that always had a “Home Improvement” project. He was a kind person and helped his sisters and family members with anything that he could do for them. Most cherished to him was the time he spent with his family. He is survived by his wife of thirty years and best friend for thirty eight years, Penny McDonald of Jaffrey; four daughters Roberta Chamberlain and her husband Robert of Rindge, Bonnie Lawrence also of Rindge, Anne Pelkey of Dublin and Amanda Pelkey, USMC of Quantico, VA; his step daughter Nicole Goulet and husband Bryan of Antioch, Illinois; and his “daughter by choice not by birth” Molly Powers of Antrim; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five sisters, Lorraine Holman of Winchendon, MA., Rita Chamberlain, Alice Sirois, and Marie Renee all of Jaffrey, and Felice and her husband Harvey Johnson; two brothers Franklin Pelkey of Marlborough and Andrew Pelkey of Winchendon; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and several brothers and sisters, he was predeceased by his son Oris P. Pelkey Jr in 1991.

Friends and family are warmly invited to call at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey on Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 4:00 to 7:00PM.
A Memorial Service will be held Thursday evening immediately following calling hours, at 7:00PM in the funeral home chapel.
