Steven “Steve” Young Goddard, 75, of Winchendon, died on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at the Good Shepherd Healthcare Center in Jaffrey, NH, after a period of declining health.
He was born in Vergennes, VT, on January 22, 1942, to Herbert M. and Mary J. (Young) Goddard. He grew up in Massachusetts, and was a 1959 graduate of Littleton High School. He lived in Fitchburg for several years before settling in Winchendon.
He worked for the James River – Pepperell Paper Mill, and he was the Chief Steward and Vice President of the local union. He retired from the mill after 40 plus years of service.
Mr. Goddard liked Photography, and listening to classical music. He enjoyed watching professional tennis and was an avid Red Sox fan. He was also a collector of antique telephones.
He is survived by a sister: Rebecca Davis of Jaffrey as well as a close friend: William Stone of Ashburnham.
A Memorial Service, celebrating his life, will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at 12:00 pm, at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River St. There will be an hour of visitation on the same morning, from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm. Burial will happen later in the family lot at St. Mary Cemetery in Ayer, MA.
