Sven Ake Johanson

SVEN AKE JOHANSON, 73 of Jaffrey and Boston, died Tuesday October 9, 2007 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough unexpectedly of stroke. He was born March 9, 1934 in Cambridge MA, son of the late Sven and Lilli (Korpi) Johanson.

He graduated from the University of New Hampshire, received his Masters Degree from Boston University and his JD from Suffolk University in 1959. Mr. Johanson was a member of the law firm of Schneider, Johanson & Silin in Boston. He had extensive involment in International Law and Business. He had traveled extensively throughout North America, Europe and Asia for most of his career. Mr. Johnanson was involved in opening the doors of China for economic growth. He was active in Reparation and Recovery for Holocaust victims. He promoted international cooperation through his work with student exchange. He was multi lingual, fluent in English, Swedish, Finish and German. Mr. Johanson was interested in the protection of local lands and farms and in particular, Mt. Monadnock He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and hiking Mt Monadnock. He especially loved time spent with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 11 years Gunilla I. Johanson of Jaffrey; daughters Birgit G. Johanson of Jaffrey, Anna Johansson of Weston, MA; son Erik G. Johansson of Kennebunk, ME; five grandchildren Michael Convoy, Raymond and Arianne Gryseelis, Mark DeBenedictis and River Johanson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Jaffrey- Rindge Memorial Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 107, Jaffrey NH 03452.

Burial will follow at the family lot in Conant Cemetery, Jaffrey.

Family and friends are warmly invited to call at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey on Friday from 5:00 to 7:00PM

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00AM in the United Church of Jaffrey, 54 Main Street, Jaffrey. Rev Jan Shepherd, Interim Pastor and Dr. Ken Kroll, family friend will officiate.
