Theresa R. Benoit, 86, died peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Sentry Hill in York, Maine, after a period of failing health.
Theresa “Terry” was born on July 27, 1928, in Manchester, NH, and was the daughter of the late Philias and Rollande (Dumas) Berger. She was a graduate of St. George High School in Manchester and had attended the NH School of Accounting.
Terry married Robert Andre “Andy” Benoit on December 29, 1956, in Manchester, and together they lived in St. Louis, MO, and Fairmont, MN, before settling in the Monadnock Region and living there for nearly 50 years, first in Peterborough, then in Hancock.
Terry worked as a Chiropractic Assistant for her husband Andy in the operation of his chiropractic office in Peterborough until they retired together in 1999. Also, Terry was very proud to have worked at Prudential Insurance in several states over the course of 16 years, earlier in her career.
Terry spent much of her free time enjoying baking, sewing, church activities, and her children and grandchildren. She especially liked when everyone would come to the family home in Hancock for the fall and winter holidays. She also was a long time volunteer at the Hancock Town Library.
She was a communicant and Eucharistic minister at the Divine Mercy Parish in Peterborough.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Benoit was also preceded in death by her son, Peter, in 1993.
She is survived by her loving husband of more than 58 years, Robert Andre “Andy” Benoit of Hancock and Cape Neddick, ME, and by her son, Richard P. Benoit of Cape Neddick, ME, daughter Lisa M. Hunt of Bennington, NH, daughter Suzanne E. Spence of San Diego, CA, and by her 9 grandchildren.
Family and friends are warmly invited to calling hours on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, (Rte. 202) Jaffrey, NH 03452.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Saint Peter Church of the Divine Mercy Parish, 18 Vine Street, Peterborough. Rev. Msgr. Gerald Belanger, Pastor, will officiate.
Burial will take place in the spring at Hillside Cemetery in Hancock at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Divine Mercy Parish Building Fund in Peterborough.
