Thomas Emery Sedgwick of Jaffrey died peacefully in his home on Thursday, September 13.

He was born in 1934 in Boston, MA to John Popham Sedgwick and Isabel Emery Sedgwick, formerly of Peterborough. After his education at Milton Academy, Williams College, and Harvard Business School, he married Susan Anne Thompson in 1961.

Tom worked as an investment advisor in Glens Fall, NY, Worcester, MA, and most recently for the law firm of Palmer and Dodge in Boston. Throughout his life, Tom was dedicated to community service, volunteering for the Massachusetts Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Children, serving on the School Committee in Holden, MA, and helping to found the Glens Falls Tennis Club.

During his retirement, he volunteered with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Rivermead Retirement Community, Friends of the Wapack, and Monadnock Community Hospital. Tom had a special fondness for the Monadnock region dating from his childhood. He moved to Jaffrey in 1990, fulfilling of his long-term dream of living in the area. He was an avid hiker and tennis player, and enjoyed rambling through the woods and trails with friends and family.

He is survived by his brother David, daughter Jeannette with her husband Robert Peiper, daughter Katie, and son Peter with his wife Amy. He also is survived by two granddaughters, Nia Sedgwick Dealey and Alexis Sedgwick.
