Tomma M. Goodwin, 62, of Peterborough died peacefully at home on Tuesday October 25, 2011, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 20, 1949 in Boston, MA, daughter of the late Vincent W. and Helen M. (Shelley) Adams. She spent her formative years growing up in Jaffrey where she was a 1967 graduate of Conant High School. She attended Newton-Wellesley School of Nursing and received her registered nursing degree. Following nursing school she lived in Peterborough for the remainder of her life. Tomma spent 40 years of her life as a nurse with a deep passion for her field and it showed to the many people she cared for. The first 25 years of her career were spent at Beech Hill Hospital in Dublin. She then worked at many other local healthcare facilities, including Monadnock Community Hospital, PheasantWood Nursing Home, Summerhill Assisted Living and The Elms Care and Rehabilitation Center in Milford. Tomma was a devoted mother and “Grammy” and cherished the time spent with her family. She was an animal lover and will be greatly missed by her adoring cats. She was a die-hard Red Sox fan and loved to take trips to Ogunquit, Maine, where she enjoyed dipping her toes in the ocean and walking the Marginal Way. Survivors include her daughter Tomma Schachtner and husband Mark of St. Paul Minnesota; her two sons Tim Goodwin and his fiancée Mary Woodin of Keene, and Chris Goodwin and his wife Jackie of Peterborough; five grandchildren Brennan, Kylie and Owen Schachtner all of St. Paul,MN and Sarah and Emily Goodwin both of Peterborough. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her two sisters Helen Coll and Doris Therrien and her infant granddaughter Ashley Rita Goodwin.

Family and friends are warmly invited to calling hours on Friday evening from 7:00 to 9:00PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202 South) in Jaffrey.
Private burial services will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Peterborough at the convenience of her family.
