Vera M. Elder, 94, of Dublin, NH, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025, at Covenant Living in Keene after a period of failing health.

She was born on September 6, 1930, in Peterborough, NH, the daughter of Olof and Elsa (Fridholm) Larson, who emigrated to the United States from Sweden. She attended local schools in Harrisville, graduated from Peterborough High School and lived her entire life in the Monadnock Region. She grew up in Harrisville and lived her life married to David Elder in Dublin from 1950 onwards. She enjoyed life at home raising her children but had worked briefly at Yankee Magazine in Dublin and National Grange Mutual Insurance in Keene. From 1950 to 1958 she also helped her husband operate the I.G.A. grocery store in Dublin, before he became Postmaster in town. For many years, Vera volunteered at the Dublin Public Library and was involved with the Cub Scouts in town.

She loved reading historical novels and was a supporter of public television for over fifty years. She loved her walks along Upper Jaffrey Road in Dublin and continued to do so until her late eighties. She had the opportunity to travel to a few destinations as diverse as Florida, the American Southwest, Canada, England and Scotland. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life.

Vera was preceded in death by her husband, David R. Elder, on December 9, 2015. She was also preceded in death by her brothers Wendell Larson, Robert Larson and sister Greta (Larson) Primrose, all originally from Harrisville.

She is survived by her four sons, Barry and his wife Vira of Dublin, Robert and his wife Michelle of Hampstead, NH, Brian of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, and Dean and his wife Michelle of Rochester, NH, four grandchildren, Consuelo, Tomas and his wife Sabrina, Gareth, and Kieran and his wife Ashley. Her great grandchildren include Kiara, Mari, Diego, Amelia and Astrid and there are many nephews and nieces.

Following her wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A private family memorial service will be held at a future date.
