Victoria L. Butler

June 16, 1920 — November 12, 2014

Victoria L. Butler, 94, formerly of Jaffrey, died on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Summerhill Assisted Living in Peterborough, NH after a period of failing health.

Victoria Lillian was born on June 16, 1920 in Fitzwilliam, NH, daughter of the late Joseph M. and Leofied Mary (Meatty) Champney.

Vickie, as everyone knew her, grew up in Rindge and later moved to Jaffrey. She had a real passion for horses and owned horses when she lived in Rindge. At one time, she gave riding lessons.

Together, she and her first husband, Robert F. Lambert, owned and operated the Monadnock Rod & Gun Club in Jaffrey. In addition to working at the Rod & Gun Club, Vickie had also worked for D.D. Bean and Sons Co as well as W.W. Cross Co.

When she returned to Jaffrey with her second husband, Donald J. Butler, Sr., they sold antiques and second hand collectibles, from a small shop attached to their home. They loved going to auctions and tag sales.

Victoria is predeceased by her husband, Donald J. Butler, Sr.; her siblings, Evelyn Stevens, Zell Butler, Ernest Champney and Herbert Champney.

Vickie is survived by her son, Robert A. Lambert and his wife, Mary Jane of Peterborough, NH; her daughter, Susan Lambert Hansen and her husband Rolf of Cheshire, MA; her 2 step-sons, Donald J. Butler, Jr and his wife, Pauline of Peterborough, and Wayne Butler and wife, Sheila of Templeton, CA, ; her step-daughter, Anna Jo Geraci of Jaffrey. Together there are 13 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 12 great, great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Larry Champney, the youngest of her siblings is living in Florida.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for Vickie on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Rte. 202 South) Jaffrey, NH 03452. Rev. Wilfred Deschamps, Pastor of Saint Patrick Parish in Jaffrey will officiate. Burial will follow in her family lot in Saint Patrick Cemetery, Jaffrey.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made in Vickie’s name to The Place to Go, Post Office Box 253, Peterborough NH 03458
