Vincent “Vinny” Marchildon, 76, of Rindge, NH and formerly of Chelmsford, MA, died on Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Manchester after a very brief illness
Vinny was born in Lowell, MA on July 4, 1937, son of the late Arthur and Laura (Gendreau) Marchildon. He attended schools in Chelmsford and Lowell. Mr. Marchildon served his country honorably and faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War
He married his longtime sweetheart, Virginia White, while in the service. Vinny worked in construction most of his life, and owned and operated Mark IV Construction in Rindge until retiring in 2011
After retirement, Mr. Marchildon was able to enjoy many of his hobbies finally, like fishing and camping in his RV.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Marchildon was also predeceased by his son Daniel J. Marchildon on December 6, 2007, and by his sister, Doris Grout, and by his brothers, Ray Marchildon, Leo Marchildon and Armand Marchildon.
He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Virginia (White) Marchildon, of Rindge, NH; his 5 daughters; Darlene Johnson of Epping, NH, Diana Ingham of Palm Harbor, FL, Deborah Polselli of Durham, NH, Denise Dupont of Dracut, MA and Doreen Howarth of Brook Haven, PA; and by his son Douglas Marchildon of South Carolina. He will also be missed by 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, his close friend and nephew Ray Marchildon, his Dachshund ‘Daisy’, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Family and friends are warmly invited to calling hours at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202) Jaffrey on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 19, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Rindge.
Flowers are welcome, or memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Cathedral of the Pines, 10 Hale Hill Road, Rindge, NH 03461
