Virginia 'Ginny' Thompson

November 16, 1940 — December 28, 2017

Virginia M. ‘Ginny’ Thompson, 77, of Swanzey, NH died on December 28, 2017 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon after a period of declining health, she was surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Thompson was born on November 16, 1940 in Grafton, VT, a daughter of the late Frederick and Rose (Wyman) Nichols. She attended schools in Grafton and Bellows Falls, VT.

Early on, Mrs. Thompson had been an operator for New England Telephone for many years before working at MPB and eventually Timken in Keene until she retired in September of 2005.

Ginny enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, birds, music, travel and canning, but more than anything else, she loved her family, including her numerous cats and dogs.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, May and Marjorie, and by her brothers, Elroy, Lloyd and Frederick.

Ginny is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Francis ‘Butch’ Thompson of Swanzey; her sons, Aaron and his wife Sarah; Tracy and his wife Jennifer; her daughter, Felicia Bagster; her 7 grandchildren, Alexis, Noah, Nicholas, Sam, Sarah Rose, Nathan, and April; her great-grandson Killian; 3 siblings, Marian, Iverna and Franklin, and many nieces and nephews.

At Ginny’s request, there will be no calling hours.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 1:00 PM in the Westport Church, 109 Westport Village Road, Swanzey, NH 03446.
