Virginia I. Rabidou

February 4, 1932 — August 24, 2008

Virginia Isabell Rabidou, 76, of Jaffrey, New Hampshire succumbed to a courageous battle of cancer on August 24, 2008. Virginia passed at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she had recently moved to receive treatment for her newly diagnosed cancer.


Virginia was born on February 4, 1932 in Tacoma, Washington. Her parents were Nellie (Smith) and Alexander Ritchie. Alexander passed away while Virginia was a young adult. Nellie later married Edward Marshall, then to become Virginias father.



Virginia was a 1951 graduate of Dexter High School in Dexter, MI. She had many friends, one of whom she still kept in contact with, Mazie Bell. Virginia married John (Jack) Bell shortly after graduation. They had four children Virginia (Bell) Hall, John Bell, Robin Bell, and Dawn (Bell) Soublet. Unfortunately, Jack passed away in 1968. Virginia remarried to Francis Rabidou in May of 1970 and they had one child Kip Rabidou.



Virginia was an artist of many talents. She loved photography, drawing, and painting, especially mushrooms. One of her other talents was making the people around her happy. She was a great friend, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Virginia was also an avid cat lover, Sneakers and Coalby will miss her dearly.



Virginia is survived by her husband Francis of 38 years, who resides at New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, NH. Her daughter Virginia (Bell) Hall and her husband Bryan of Albuquerque, NM, her son John Bell and his wife Dianna of Britton, MI, her daughter Robin Bell and her boyfriend Arthur Leavitt of Rindge, NH, her daughter Dawn (Bell) Soublet and her husband Randall of Lithia, FL and her son Kip Rabidou and his partner Jodi Ferreira of East Hampton, Massachusetts. Virginia also has a granddaughter that she adopted as a young teen, whom Virginia lived with up until she left for treatment in New Mexico. Joni (Kalmbach) Bergeron and her husband Ted of Jaffrey, NH. Virginias other grandchildren are Jaci Hill of Jaffrey, New Hampshire; Alan Bell and Nicole Bell or Britton, Michigan; David Cloutier and wife Cassie and Christopher Cloutier, of Jaffrey, New Hampshire; Renae Hewes; who is in the Air Force stationed in Incirlik Air Base, Turkey, and Jessika Hewes of Lithia, Florida. Her great grandchildren are Zachary Bergeron, Dustin Bergeron, Joseph Bergeron, and Jaimie Cloutier, of Jaffrey, New Hampshire. Virginia is also survived by her sister Mary (Marshall) Mead and her husband Mike of Cincinnati, OH and her brother Dick Ritchie of Dexter, MI. She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband John Bell and brother Jack Ritchie also her beloved cats Smokey, and Snowflake.

A celebration of Virginias life will be held at the Cournoyer Funeral Home Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202) in Jaffrey, NH on Friday, August 29th from 4 to 7 pm.
