WILLIAM T. CONNELL, JR, 87, of Winter Street, Peterborough died Monday February 23, 2009 at the Monadnock Community Hospital.
He was born November 13, 1921 in Gardner MA, son of the late William T. and Edna (Robichaud) Connell. He was a 1940 graduate of the former Peterborough High School.
Mr. Connell served in Asiatic Pacific Theater with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.
'Bill' was a former resident of Temple and has lived in Peterborough since 1984. Prior to his retirement, Bill was employed as a construction supervisor with the MacMillin Company in Keene.
Bill was an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Red Sox, Celtics, Duke University and Notre Dame sports teams. He was particularly proud of his Irish heritage.
Cherished by him the most, was his time spent with his family, who considered him as their Patriarch.
He was a communicant of St. Peter Church of the Divine Mercy Parish.
He was married to Florence Young who died in 1970; his second wife Rita Cecile Fournier, died May, 2005. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister Madeleine Gauthier in 2000.
Family members include his two sisters Rita E. Dionne and Priscilla C. Bourgoine both of Peterborough;five nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice at HCS, Post Office Box 496, Peterborough New Hampshire 03458.
Spring burial will be in the New Miller Cemetery, Temple NH at the convenience of the family.
Friends are warmly invited to call at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202 south) Jaffrey on Friday, February 27, 2009from 4:00 until 6:00PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday February 28, 2009 at 11:00AM in Saint Peters Church of the Divine Mercy Parish, 18 Vine Street, Peterborough. Rev. Wilfred Deschamps will be the celebrant.
