Winchendon - William David O’Brien (Bill), 83, of Winchendon, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 4, 2018, surrounded by his family.
He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Sandra (St. Pierre); daughters, Sandra (Healy), Margaret (Simoneau), and Kelley (Wickman); grandchildren, Matthew Robidoux, Allison Healy, and Stephanie, Kelsey, and Kristyn Simoneau; son-in-laws, Richard Simoneau and Randy Wickman; and sister, Shelia Bonin. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Margaret (Harrison) O’Brien, and brother, John.
Bill was born on March 22, 1935 in Pawtucket, RI. He proudly served in the United States Army for four years and worked as a foreman at General Electric in Fitchburg, MA for 35 years until his retirement in 1994.
He was fiercely devoted to his family and cherished being called “Papa”, proudly wearing any sweatshirt declaring his role as a grandfather. Bill enjoyed his Sundays watching football, especially the New York Giants, drinking a cold beer, and reclining in his chair with his beloved dog, Brady. He enjoyed anyone who visited and listened to his “Sunday Talks”. He was also very proud of his Irish heritage and never missed wearing green and enjoying corned beef cabbage on St. Patrick’s Day.
There will be a private service held on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Cournoyer Funeral Home in Jaffrey, NH followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery in Winchendon, MA.
