William J. Burgoyne, 50, of Bennington died suddenly Friday July 6, 2012 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough NH. He was born April 11, 1962 in Peterborough the son of Leonard G. and Priscilla (Allord) Burgoyne. Bill had attended Conant High School in Jaffrey. When he was younger he worked many years at the Sawyer Farm in Jaffrey with Peter Sawyer. He then worked for the New Hampshire Ball Bearing Co. in Peterborough and for the past three years had been employed with High Bank Properties of Peterborough. Bill had also served on the Jaffrey Ambulance as well as the Antrim Fire Department. He was a member of the ski- patrol at the form Temple Mountain Ski area. Bill was an avid outdoors man who loved his vegetable gardens and fishing. He hiked Mt Monadnock often with his friend Larry Davis. He was a dedicated race fan and was actively involved with Poodiack Racing in Bennington; he was the “Spotter” for race driver Billy Kimball and saw him through two championships at Monadnock Raceway. Bill was a hard working person who was always ready to share his knowledge with anyone. In past years, he and his family participated in the Foreign Student Exchange Program at Conant and Con-Val high schools. He had also opened his home to “Fresh Air” children in the summer months. Bill could also be found coaching the sports teams that his children were involved with. He is survived by his mother Priscilla Casey of Jaffrey; his wife Laura (Emond) Burgoyne of Bennington; his daughter Christina Emond of South Carolina; his son Nicholas L. Burgoyne of Bennington; three sisters Brenda L. Dunton of Troy, Cathy A. Burgoyne of Wilton, Samantha Murray and husband Michael of Antrim; five grandchildren; his step-father Robert Putnam of Brattleboro VT; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; as well as many close friends. He was predeceased by his father Leonard G. Burgoyne in 1979.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, friends may honor Bill’s memory with a contribution to the Good Neighbor Fund, Post Office Box 486, Jaffrey NH 03452-0486.
Family and friends will honor and remember Bill’s life by gathering for calling hours at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202S) in Jaffrey on Wednesday July 11, 2012 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM.
